The news keeps newsing. The courts keep ruling and cases I’m following are moving up and down the hierarchy.
I continue to be shocked that so many people are spending what I’ll call reputational capital to support the administration’s goals. Of course, those are the people I’m hearing about. I also continue to hope that there are people I don’t know about advocating for the right thing and working to stop what’s been happening.
Stories of people who stand to lose business, livelihoods, and worse due to tariffs are coming out. Stories of people innocently caught up in the deportation expansion are coming out. Stories of people doing their jobs well but angering the administration are coming out.
This week is typically a busy one at church – the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. However, yesterday the pastor encouraged us to slow down and appreciate each day because the principles behind what we are celebrating are worth spending time on. Also, taking care of myself and my spiritual health is always worthwhile.
I’m praying for the people who cause me concern because that’s what is right for me. They have to follow their path and I don’t have to derail my own because of them.
I’m spending a bit less time on keeping up with the news and focusing on friends because I need to right now.
I’d like to fast-forward to next year but know it will be 365 days until that time and want to appreciate the here and now.
