Wanted to capture some thoughts but where to start? Again, so many things have happened. It’s sinking in that the next three years and ten or so months are going to be like this so won’t need to repeat that.
One law firm reaching an agreement so they won’t get caught up in an executive order. One university reaching an agreement so they won’t get caught up in a different executive order.
Lots of opinions on what that means and why the opinion-givers think it’s a bad idea – at least the people I listen to. Also wondering when or if I’ll ever learn the reasoning behind the decisions that led to the agreements. I think they’d be instructive.
I toured Munich with a guide who had been able to meet and talk to people who had survived Dachau concentration camp. He said they all had a quality in them that made them able to get up each day and keep going. They never gave up. I toured Cambodia with a guide who was a child during the period of their genocide. He had the same quality.
My work experience included some time with a manager who singled out one team member at a time for her dissatisfaction at their quality of work. I managed to find another position before it was my turn, but it still troubles me that it took me so long to see what was happening and how many people were damaged as a result.
That was a workgroup. This is a nation. Eventually the damage is going to find me, so what to do in the meantime? Keep going.
